About us
The company is a creation of two childhood friends – Jane Boot and Alice Fairfax-Jones. In 1995 they decided to blend their work and life experiences into a new and exciting business. Jane’s background includes theatre and 10 years at the BBC in production management. She later ran her own craft enterprise and completed a creative embroidery course at the London College of Fashion. Her collages are in collections in the UK and Europe.
Alice trained at Brighton and later took up silkscreen design. Whilst living in Toronto, Canada she set up Alice Fabrics and sold her first screen-printed collection. Travelling in South America, and living in the Mediterranean and Middle East has provided much inspiration for her designs. Eight years ago she settled in France with architect husband Raymond Burton who designed and built a beautiful working studio overlooking the rolling foothills. Here she works on the Comfy Clothes collections surrounded by countryside and an enchanting garden that provides endless inspiration.
So with Alice looking for a mail order outlet for her designs, Jane took up the challenge and Kanopy was born.
