Totally lame use of Colette and Byrne. Blech!!!

SPOILERS AHEAD!! -- A therapeutic, fun ride. Therapeutic because I find watching horror films less horrifying than every day life. Ok, so I join a coven and get to hang out naked with naked women. Could be worse! The cast: any movie with Ms. Toni Colette (Muriel's Wedding!) and/or Mr. ...Read more

"Hereditary" is a captivating character study disguised as a horror film, and it milks everything it can from actress Toni Collette (who was snubbed so fucking hard) and writer/director Ari Aster.

8/10

Hereditary is one of the scariest movies I have ever seen. In Danse Macabre, Stephen King classifies the horror genre into three descending levels: Terror, Horror, and Revulsion. Almost all of Hereditary falls under Terror, which is the suspenseful feeling before the 'monster' comes. The ...Read more

I'd recommend "Hereditary" as a moody, ominous, intense horror flick with good acting, sound, music, etc. and a genuine sense of tragedy. A couple of things keep it from getting on my list of favorites (trying to avoid spoilers but please stop if you haven't yet seen it): 1) the most ...Read more

I inherited a LOT from my parents but almost none of it was financial. I inherited almost every fr*cking gene that they had for unpleasant health issues in my older age... BUt, that's is not the point here. I just watched twenty minutes of this movie Hereditary and let me tell you, NOT ...Read more

Look, I consider myself to be a pretty egotistical and tough Hombre, so I won't say this movie made me pee in my pants. However, I will confess that this movie "scared the pants off me", and then I peed... The plot, acting, music score, and special effects are superlative. IMHO, it is right ...Read more

Went in knowing nothing about the film. Found it to be startling in its originality and storytelling. Might need to watch it again to catch all the symbolism, but a damn fine film.

Let me tell you something about the 'cinematography'. It wasn't very striking to me. But what do I know? When you get to my age people fr*cking walk all over your opinions like they are the trash.

WTH? I have my opinion, you have yours, but I didn't "walk over your opinions" at all. That's why they make so many different movies... one person's trash is another person's treasure.

Gary. I really enjoyed what you just said. "VERY" insightful. I was thinking about my time in Santa Fe not so long ago and how there that had open, innovative minds. That was a long time ago though Too long for me to care to admit on a Public comment section

Easily one of my favorite films of the past ten years, and one of the only movies I've gone to see twice in the theater. The pacing is excruciatingly precise, the scares are legitimately agonizing, and the emotional tension within the family is palpable (although it's a bummer how little ...Read more

Best horror film I've seen since the Babadook. Light some candles, turn down the lights and... enjoy?

I agree and I loved Babadook also! I guess with this one you either get it or you don't. I have watched A LOT of horror movies and this one scared the hell out of me.

Very frightening, but if you are a Catholic be forewarned that the Trinity is clearly rejected in this film. The ritual is very ominous and feels based on some truths...

Honestly that movie is disturbing, psychologically scary and surprisingly emotional, oh my god! First place for best horror movie of 2018 with A Quiet Place in second place!
