I resisted watching this a long time, not crazy about coming-of-age movies. But this was really good. Some aspects felt cliched, but maybe that's adolescence, they were handled well. The main character ricochets around acting on disparate impulses, yet her sense of self determination is ...Read more

I love this movie. Two things that really make it stand out from other movies is of course the vulnerability of the main character, and also how the film makers were able to show a side of private schools that isn't shown a lot. Their depiction of religion shows how I felt in catholic school ...Read more

The pacing is very good. The movie manages to pack a great story into an hour and a half.

Understandable. It felt like it was written by a very talented teenager, which is in a way a good quality. Main character is unlikable and kind of a jerk, so it's hard to watch without being annoyed. I can definitely see how someone one would like it, but the tone rubbed me the wrong way and ...Read more

I lived an hour from Sacramento almost my whole life and I can relate to how Lady Bird felt about her home city. Wonderful movie, wonderful performances.

Lovely and engaging in its awkwardness and warmth. I like the complex and sympathetic light on even mistaken behavior.. Leaves one happy. Uplifting film, which we need.

If you like good acting this is a film you will like. A teenage girl coming of age movie is not normally what I would watch but I really enjoyed this film and could relate to her struggle to find herself. Saoirse Ronan is great as always and a good job for a first time director.

slow paced coming of age film with a strong performance from Laurie Metcalf as the mom. oddly tho there was very little in the way of character development for anyone really, even the main characters. it had some good moments, but ultimately a little unsatisifying.

Refreshing views of Sacramento and music surrounding the story of a smart but rebellion H.S. free-spirited girl's conflicting between making her own world but also understanding her strong roots to family from afar.

Had such a realistic mother-daughter onscreen dynamic. Laurie Metcalf really made the film, in my opinion.

A tender observation of an adolescent girl coming of age, supported by a struggling, loving, if imperfect family. Many amusing scenes take place at a Catholic High School, where the staff is portrayed with humanity and tender humor. This is a gentle film, with a terrific cast where ...Read more

A well-done film with fine performances all around--could have used a little more character development, but that's nit-picky..sort of a 'coming of age' film for the millennial generation. Well worth watching.

2.5 stars. Not a comedy & rather boring. I didn't find Lady Bird all that likeable or interesting, so I didn't care for it that much. I was confused about who Miguel was in this family & why he was there. Seemed to me they tried too hard to squeeze everything PC into it, rather than ...Read more

You are correct about everything PC (its ruining everything) but I still enjoyed it because of the strong performance by Saoirse Ronan and the mom.

From a mixed family and community I never would have called the minor amount of diversity "ruining", or call variety in media the pejorative, dismissive term "PC".
The mains in this are mostly straight white, so you 2 can still be happy.

Probably the best film I have seen this year. Warm, gutsy, relatable and bold, Gerwig is absolutely one to watch.
