Don't look for coherence in the storyline, and you should enjoy it fine. Granted, the film falls apart in the third act--all that explaining!--but should anyone need a sterling example of noir lighting and choreography, well, here it is.

Excellent film. Perhaps a little wordy and convoluted but as one of only 2 Melville films on Kanopy it is a shame it is not listed as such.
