A rare film that enters deeply into the human psyche. Belmondo is given a chance to be a character he may not realize he understands. Riva is brilliant.

Belmondo, the king of cool who likes women, totally miscast as a priest...Hardly believable. A most unusual Melville too. Fortunately, Emmanuelle Riva is perfect as usual.

I too found hard believable him priest. Just another attempt
by the filmaker to discredit the clergy. Lots of films of the
like in the past 60 years... Nothing new.

Very interesting and loving film,
and deeply religious.
Unfortunately in this day and age 2019,
we've lost the meaning.
We have to have hope and have our faith restored again.
God keep watch over us; we need your love and guidance.
