Very enjoyable. Direction like a slightly demented David Lean, and powerful performances all around. Its humor and madness sneak up on you, and pull you in. Perfect midsummer fare.

Had to give up on this - did not like it at all. My idea of a great film and Criterion's do not jive.

he he...acceptable in NY. Sometimes you have to dig pretty deep to find such good entertainment. Thanks to both of you! Now I'm going to watch this classic movie and may or may not follow up with my review.
