This movie is about a police inspector in Mumbai whose child was kidnapped at some point in the past. We don't know exactly when or the exact circumstances. Mark, I agree. The movie is definitely a film noir. In my opinion, the scene with the boy, that does not seem to relate to the main plot, was added to emphasize the violent world they live in/surrounded by.
