Audrey Hepburn is perfect for Natasha, Mel Ferrer suitably stiff for Andrei, but Fonda was an absurd choice for Pierre. Apparently Audrey lobbied for Peter Ustinov, who would've been apropos. Having not read or seen any other versions of Tolstoy's classic, I was impressed with the cinematography here. A view the effect Napoleon's quest for dominion over Europe had on Russian aristocracy.
